In a time so long ago it cannot be found in recorded history, an advanced civilization retreated into the Ethereal Plane to facilitate their magical discoveries and avoid the mundane conflicts of the Material Plane. The people of this civilization dreamed of worlds not just undiscovered, but unmade. In the pursuit of such worlds, they created an artifact they named the Lemurian Gate.
Whether as a result of underestimated threats of the Ethereal Plane, or a consequence of utilizing the Lemurian Gate, this civilization ultimately collapsed and its people were cast to the far corners of those misty lands. In the hundreds and thousands of years since their shared society collapsed, Lemurians have individually and in small tribes gradually rediscovered pathways back to the Material Plane. The complete history of Lemurians is as shrouded in mystery to them as it is to others.
